Please read these terms carefully before using the DT Law website at dtlaw-ep.com, operated by DT Law EP LLC ("DT Law"), including the Family Plan Simulator and the guides (together, the "Site"). By using the Site, you acknowledge that you have read and understood them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
This Is Not Legal Advice
Everything on the Site, including guides, descriptions of services, and results shown by the Family Plan Simulator, is provided for general informational purposes only. It is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from an attorney who knows your facts. Estate planning, special needs planning, and guardianship law depend on your family's circumstances and change over time. Information on the Site may be incomplete or out of date, and it may not apply to your situation.
Viewing the Site, using the Family Plan Simulator, booking a consultation, or contacting DT Law does not create an attorney-client relationship. That relationship begins only when you and DT Law have both signed a written engagement agreement. Please do not rely on anything on the Site when making a legal decision. Speak with a qualified attorney first.
Contacting DT Law
Before an engagement agreement is signed, DT Law cannot know whether it has a conflict of interest or whether it is able to take your matter. Until then, please do not send confidential or sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers, account numbers, medical details, or the details of a dispute, by email, through a scheduling request, or by any other means.
Information you send before an attorney-client relationship exists may not be protected as a confidential client communication, and DT Law may be free to represent another person whose interests are adverse to yours. Sending a message or booking a call does not mean DT Law has agreed to represent you, and DT Law may decline a matter for any lawful reason. Nothing sent through the Site should be treated as urgent. If you have a deadline or an emergency, please contact an attorney directly.
The Family Plan Simulator
The Family Plan Simulator is an educational visualization tool. It illustrates how a family's relationships, concerns, and goals can relate to common estate planning tools. It does not draft documents, calculate taxes, determine eligibility for any government benefit, or recommend a specific plan. The suggestions it shows are general prompts for conversation, and they are not a legal opinion about your family.
The Simulator runs in your web browser. What you enter is saved only on your own device and is not sent to DT Law. Even so, please use first names or nicknames and do not enter Social Security numbers, account numbers, or other sensitive details. Because the information is stored in your browser, clearing your browser data, or using a shared or public computer, can erase it or expose it to other users of that device. You may use the "Start over" button to clear what you entered.
Tax Information
Any discussion of taxes on the Site is general in nature and is not tax advice. DT Law does not provide tax preparation services. Please consult a qualified tax professional about your own situation.
Advertising and No Guarantee
This Site may be considered attorney advertising under the Illinois Rules of Professional Conduct. Descriptions of services are not promises of any particular result. The outcome of any legal matter depends on its specific facts and the law that applies, and prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome. DT Law practices law in Illinois, and the Site is directed to Illinois residents and to matters governed by Illinois law unless it says otherwise. Laws in other states may differ.
Links and Third-Party Services
The Site may link to websites and resources operated by others, such as government agencies, advocacy organizations, and news sources. These links are provided for convenience. DT Law does not control those sites, is not responsible for their content or privacy practices, and does not endorse them by linking to them.
The Site also relies on third-party services, including Google Calendar appointment scheduling, Google Fonts, and the cloud service that hosts the Site. When you use these, the provider may collect information such as your name, email address, device information, and IP address under its own terms and privacy policy.
Privacy
DT Law uses the information you provide through the Site, such as your name and contact details in a consultation request, only to respond to you and to operate its practice. DT Law does not sell your personal information. It does not share it with others except service providers who help operate the Site and the practice, or where required by law. The Simulator does not transmit what you enter, as described above. If you become a client, your information is further protected by the attorney's duty of confidentiality. For more detail, see the Privacy Policy.
Intellectual Property
The text, logo, graphics, design, and software on the Site belong to DT Law or its licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You may view the Site and print a single copy of a page for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, republish, distribute, modify, or reuse the Site's content for any other purpose without written permission.
No Warranties; Limitation of Liability
The Site is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. DT Law does not promise that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or current. To the fullest extent permitted by law, DT Law and its owner, employees, and contributors are not liable for any damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site or from your reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms limits DT Law's responsibilities to a client under a signed engagement agreement or its professional obligations under the Illinois Rules of Professional Conduct.
Changes to These Terms
DT Law may update these terms from time to time. The effective date above shows when they were last changed, and your continued use of the Site means you accept the updated terms.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising from your use of the Site will be brought exclusively in the state courts located in DuPage County, Illinois, or in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
